What a Professional Mobile Detailer Brings to Your Appointment

Water tanks, generators, extractors and lighting. The equipment behind a professional mobile detail and why it matters for the result.

Mobile detailing setup next to a luxury car

People are sometimes surprised by how much equipment shows up for a mobile detail. Doing shop-quality work in a driveway takes a self-contained setup. Here is what a professional mobile rig typically includes and why each piece matters.

Water supply

A mobile detailer carries a tank of water so you do not need to provide a hose. Many also filter or soften water to reduce spotting.

Power

A generator or battery power station runs vacuums, extractors, polishers, steamers and lights without needing your outlet.

Pressure washer and foam

A pressure washer and foam cannon pre-wash and rinse the car efficiently while using less water than a garden hose.

Interior equipment

Strong vacuums, compressed air tools, a steam cleaner and a hot water extractor are what separate a real interior detail from a quick wipe.

Polishing and lighting

For correction and coating work, detailers bring machine polishers, many pads and polishes, and inspection lighting so defects and high spots are visible even on cloudy days.

Chemicals and towels

Expect a wide range of surface-specific products and a large supply of clean, sorted microfiber towels, often dozens for one car.

Containment

Responsible mobile detailers manage runoff, avoid washing chemicals into storm drains, and leave your driveway the way they found it.

What you provide

Usually just access to the vehicle, the keys for interior work, and a reasonable spot to work. For ceramic coatings, a garage is strongly preferred.

All of that is why a mobile detail can match a shop result while you stay home or at work.
